Back From LA!
Well I am back home, exhausted and educated from the 2013 IDEA World Conference! What an experience to be a part of! While I must say LA was a little overwhelming for me the conference was incredible. The group of assistants and IDEA staff that I was able to work along were amazing! I took an array of workshops from a variety of presenters. Previously while attending these workshops I would take workout after workout and by hour 5 I wouldn't be able to move. I feel as I grow as a trainer I find that I don't need to be working out to get the best of presentations - I can sit and learn through a lecture as well. I am becoming more and more aware of the importance of other factors in training, not just the good old butt whoopin. I am recently very interested in SMR or Self Myofascial Release techniques as well as movement dysfunctions. Foam rolling has become a vital part of my training. A fellow assistant and good friend mentioned that she buys tennis balls for ALL of her clients - a practice I am going to steal.
Don't get me wrong - the workouts are brutal and inspire great ideas. Over the next week I will be writing a short article on each of the workshops I took, what I learned, how sore I was the following day. I believe that IDEA conferences were the master minds of a collective group of clients - disguising it as education. It is payback for all the torture we put them through. Please check back throughout the week and read what I have been doing to do my part and INSPIRE the World!
