Star Trek Hike - LA!
I am sitting at the table waiting for the rest of the assistants who decided to go along on this walking hike with the one and only Ken Alan. After a few minutes I hear "THEAWARD who is thea ward?" Thinking...oh man what did I do I quietly turn around and say "I am." I see this huge smiling face that looked somewhat familar but I didn't recognize. "It's me Joanne"
Instantly I knew who she was. She is THE lady to go to for answers. You see IDEA has this section for Answers on their website. Fit pros and clients alike can log in and ask questions and get answers in a forum design. It is really neat - you get so many different insights from all over the world. Anyway Joanne is someone I have come to respect and admire in my time in the fitness industry. She is extremely knowledgeable and has incredible passion. So instantly I was thrilled to have decided to go along this hike. Out of the 8000 plus individuals there - it was still a small enough world that I ran into her!
Now! On to the hike. If you would have told me a year ago that in the next 365 days I would get to travel all over the country and work with some of the people I have had the opportunity too - I would of laughed in your face. The entire time I was in LA I really thought I would wake up and it would be a dream. Never did I imagine I would get the chance to head out to California. But there I was - learning from some of the best in the world! And now I am going to be hiking and walking around Hollywood with Ken Alan! Whaaaaat? You would think eventually I would stop being StarStruck (unless of course I am in Patrick Goudeau's workshop - we know I will always turn into a star struck groupie in his workshops!)But really - we are all colleagues from across the globe trying to Inspire the World! But no such luck - I was as star struck as could be. Ken Alan in case you aren't aware has done a lot of the program design and choreography for Richard Simmons.
Was awarded IDEA's Instructor of the Year and has a resume the length of....well something really long. He was so incredible! Seriously the highlight of my trip was this walk. Only a small number of us went. One gal I got to know works for AFAA out of China. Really just a neat group to get to hike with. We walked down Hollywood Blvd until we reached Runyon Cannon. It was beautiful. A long hike after a long week but I tell you what, never have I felt so blessed. It really was such a great way to end the week.
