Trigger Point Performance MCT Workshop
Today I had the privelege of attending the TPP Myofascial Compression Technique Workshop at Denver Sports Recovery. It was led by TPP Master Trainer Mike Cook and let me tell you...it was incredible. Some of you may be wondering what exactly this workshop is so below I will paste the definition from the website.
"Take your knowledge of Trigger Point Performance products to the next level by learning how to incorporate Myofascial Compression Techniques (MCT) into your personal training business! In this training, you will learn how to teach others to use Trigger Point Performance products. You will learn how to effectively demonstrate self-massage manipulations to your clients and other trainers. This training works through the ‘Ultimate 6’ areas of the body that most impact overall biomechanics – as well as the ’plus’ applications. Personal trainers and fitness professionals will leave with an in-depth knowledge of how to use and how to teach MCT in order to increase mobility, improve performance, and increase results that your clients get in your sessions. This training is hands-on, focusing on the practical application of Trigger Point Performance education."
In layman's terms I learned a lot about self massage. This is commonly done in the forms of tennis balls or foam rollers. Both of which I have used in the past and both of which I love. I currently have the Rumble Roller foam roller which I love for my hamstrings and have TPP's the Grid which is hands down the best foam roller I have ever used. The products we used today included:
-
TP FootBaller™ & Baller Block™
-
TP QuadBaller™
-
TP 2-Ball™ Sleeve
-
2 Massage Balls
Let me tell you, there was a lot of swearing, grunting and near tears. All in a good way. These products are so well made they really help your body get to where it needs to be to function at its best. I learned so much that I know will help me with my arch and calf issues as well as help my running performance significantly. I really hope that I have the chance to show you or tell you about everything whether it is in a personal training session or in a conversation. I will be keeping my kit with me at Gold's and am really excited to include some of these things into my client's sessions.
More about the workshop itself - there wasn't many of us. It was a small group led by an incredible trainer. The facility was new to me. It was all about recovery. Not training. They had a hot tub and a cool tub. Massage therapists, dry needling, accupuncture, chiropractic care and a lot of TPP products and vibration plates. It was really incredible to work with individuals who focus on allowing our [trainers] clients to be able to perform at their best. The majority of the crew was from Denver, one from Aspen, one from Colorado Springs and the only other out of stater was from Kansas City. Most of us attending that did not work at the location are trainers. I love being able to pick the brains of others located around the country. One guy's main focus is MMA Fighters and Boxers so I chatted his ear off! It really was just a lot of fun.
If you have any interest in learning more please call Gold's at 701.258.4653 and set up an appointment. Or leave a comment below and I will get back to you.
Check out TPP's website at www.tptherapy.com for videos on what I am talking about. It really is the only way I can get through my plantar fasciitis.
Goodnight All!
